Subcommittee
This role is ideal for those in their first year of study who are unsure about which specific team they would like to join. However, it is not restricted to only first years. A position on the Subcommittee will provide you with an insight into the different departments within the committee. This role is intended to last for one semester, with the opportunity to be promoted to other roles within SAMM after rotating through the different portfolios available.

Rotations through the different departments of SAMM through undertaking projects in Marketing, Communications, Human Resources, Corporate Relations, Events, etc.
Collaborate with fellow subcommittee members and the larger committee to develop and implement innovative and effective techniques to promote SAMM.

Events Officer
Reporting to the Director, the Events Officer is required to generate ideas to promote SAMM events and assist in the development, organisation, coordination and management of events.

Support the Director in liaising with internal and external partners to develop and organise events.
Monitor the implementation and progress of events.
Assist the Director in ensuring events run smoothly.
Ambitious in taking charge and using initiative to enhance SAMM events.

Human Resources Officer
Reporting to the Director, the Human Resources Officer is required to provide general human resources support and advice to achieve the mission and vision of The SAMM. You will assist the Director to build strong working relationships between committee members and maintain The SAMM’s supportive culture.

Assist the Director to develop, implement and evaluate human resource management policies.
Undertake any efforts deemed appropriate or necessary to maintain The SAMM’s culture.
Support the Director in executing the end-to-end recruitment cycle (i.e. recruitment, induction, training, management, recruitment inclusive) in Semester 1 2026.
Collaborate with other SAMM departments wherever necessary to assist with workforce planning and demands, succession planning and performance management.

Corporate Relations Officer
Reporting to the Director, the Corporate Relations Officer is responsible for building, cultivating and maintaining relationships with corporate representatives; these may include SAMM Alumni, University of Melbourne Alumni, as well as industry professionals.

Support the Director in liaising with external bodies and professionals to organise events and develop partnerships.
Contact potential guest speakers and corporate representatives for their attendance and participation in events such as Workshops and Networking Nights.
Contribute ideas to expand SAMM’s industry connections and sponsorship base.

Ability to identify opportunities for collaboration with industry partners.
Confidence in approaching external organisations and industry professionals.

Marketing Officer
The Marketing Officer is responsible for the overall brand image of SAMM and will work closely with the Director of Marketing to create branded content and solidify a strong marketing strategy across SAMM’s social media channels.

Support the Director in developing marketing campaigns to promote SAMM events.
Execute marketing campaigns through diverse content creation, including written and visual content.
Assist in the management of SAMM social media channels.
Distribute promotional material across campus and to SAMM members.

Creative and unique ideas.
Ability to think strategically.
Knowledge of Canva and MailChimp is preferable, but not necessary.
Experience in graphic design is highly desirable.
Communications Officer
The Communications Officer is required to facilitate information exchange between the SAMM Committee and SAMM members and assist with writing, editing and developing the The Uni Diaries publication and podcast.

Support the Director of Communications in initiating content creation, approaching podcast guests, scripting, organising and hosting podcasts for The Uni Diaries
Edit podcasts for The Uni Diaries
Support the Director of Communications in planning content, writing, editing and publishing for The Uni Diaries Instagram and blog
Market the content produced through The Uni Diaries via Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and email.
Initiate new ideas and improvements for the Communications team
Attend promotional stalls on campus during the semester

A passion for management, marketing and an understanding of the cultural implications of business.
A high level of creativity in relation to content creation for The Uni Diaries across all communication channels
Exceptional technology skills and adaptability to using new software (such as Wix and Audacity, which are used to upload articles and edit podcasts).
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills (for writing The Uni Diaries blog posts and hosting podcasts).
Ability to work as part of a team.
Professionalism and organisational skills to meet deadlines
PROJECTS Officer
Our Projects arm is our newest initiative at SAMM. The team will be working directly with external clients to curate targeted marketing content, campaigns and strategies, helping to boost the visibility of up-and-coming businesses. Projects will foster relationships with companies who are past, present, and future partners. If you’re interested in gaining first-hand marketing experience, similar to that of working at an actual marketing agency, then the role of Project Officer is for you!
