WHY JOIN THE SAMMILY?

SEMESTER 1 2026 APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN.

Who We Are

Joining SAMM means becoming part of a supportive, driven community that helps you grow both professionally and personally. As a SAMMily member, you’ll gain real-world skills beyond the classroom through industry workshops, case competitions and career-focused events, while staying up to date with insights from leading companies and professionals in management and marketing.

You’ll build meaningful connections with like-minded students, industry speakers and potential mentors, opening doors to internships, graduate roles and lifelong friendships. Whether you’re looking to boost your employability, explore leadership opportunities or simply make the most of your university experience, SAMM gives you the platform, people and confidence to get ahead.

Subcommittee

This role is ideal for those in their first year of study who are unsure about which specific team they would like to join. However, it is not restricted to only first years. A position on the Subcommittee will provide you with an insight into the different departments within the committee. This role is intended to last for one semester, with the opportunity to be promoted to other roles within SAMM after rotating through the different portfolios available.

Events Officer

Reporting to the Director, the Events Officer is required to generate ideas to promote SAMM events and assist in the development, organisation, coordination and management of events.

Human Resources Officer

Reporting to the Director, the Human Resources Officer is required to provide general human resources support and advice to achieve the mission and vision of The SAMM. You will assist the Director to build strong working relationships between committee members and maintain The SAMM’s supportive culture.

Corporate Relations Officer

Reporting to the Director, the Corporate Relations Officer is responsible for building, cultivating and maintaining relationships with corporate representatives; these may include SAMM Alumni, University of Melbourne Alumni, as well as industry professionals.

Marketing Officer

The Marketing Officer is responsible for the overall brand image of SAMM and will work closely with the Director of Marketing to create branded content and solidify a strong marketing strategy across SAMM’s social media channels.

Communications Officer

The Communications Officer is required to facilitate information exchange between the SAMM Committee and SAMM members and assist with writing, editing and developing the The Uni Diaries publication and podcast.

PROJECTS Officer

Our Projects arm is our newest initiative at SAMM. The team will be working directly with external clients to curate targeted marketing content, campaigns and strategies, helping to boost the visibility of up-and-coming businesses. Projects will foster relationships with companies who are past, present, and future partners. If you’re interested in gaining first-hand marketing experience, similar to that of working at an actual marketing agency, then the role of Project Officer is for you!
